Coir ropes, thread and twine have centuries-old history of use throughout the world. This material is widely used in navy, navigation, Support for hop plants, for erecting scaffolding for construction work, soil erosion control and etc.

Coir twine is widespread for its incredible durability and long-term use, which gives it superiority as compared with the use of the other similar materials.
As coir twine are manufactured from ecologically pure coir fiber and have nice and natural appearance, they are used in decorative compositions and various designs as well.

From a raw materials made out of coco husk, it undergo through decorticating machine to get a clean and long fiber. from other country like India and Sri Lanka they just smash the husk or soak it in water for many hours which  make it more laborious.

Coir twining production for Women’s of different Barangay’s here in Mati City seeks to address inequities brought about by poverty such as the need for income opportunities for women’s in this community. It is cost effective with materials readily available and Mati Coco Fiber Technology (MCFT)

Women’s were trained for the coir twining, they were visit every day for the monitoring and assistance evaluation. However some factors were included due to low price of the coir rope.   Women’s are going to produce a 1 hunk which is equivalent to 14 meters and will be bought and but all materials were provided such as coir fiber and  twining machine.

For a start up, twiners should be patient and perseveres to get the right specs of this coir twine.

This yarn is called single twining and below photos were double twining.

After making single twine, make double and now it is called hunks

One bundle of coir twine is a hundred hunks

At present, Women's were producing coir twine to meet up output of 150 to 200 hunks a day. All ropes that the Women’s produces are going to be pick-up and be paid every week. this facilitate value adding in the coconut industry in Mati City and it generate income and employment.

it is expected that a months or a year later this project, this ecological venture would have a huge demand.
